SIEMENS SOLAR RECEIVES UL LISTING FOR CIS THIN FILM MODULES
Designation Demonstrates Durability and Safety of New Technology
CAMARILLO, Calif., October 13, 1999 – Siemens Solar, the world's leading manufacturer of solar photovoltaic cells and modules, announced that the ST line of products using new Copper Indium DiSelenide (CIS) technology has been tested and approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
``Getting the UL listing is a reinforcement of the durability, reliability and safety of these modules," said Chester (Chet) Farris, Chief Operating Officer, Siemens Solar Industries. ``It validates the progress Siemens Solar is making in bringing this new technology to market."
Siemens' ST solar modules were recently chosen as one of this year's R&D 100 Award-winning technologies. The solar modules were noted for representing a significant step toward delivering cost-effective solar energy.
