About A1 Solar

A1 Solar is a reference site for the Siemens Solar modules sold in the 1990s and early 2000s, the SM, SP, SR and ST series that are still working on roofs, masts, boats and remote sites. We publish the datasheet for each module, calculators that use it, and the installation notes Siemens published for its systems, so that owners, installers and restorers can identify a module, wire it and replace it with confidence.

Where the information comes from

The values on the module pages come from Siemens Solar’s own datasheets and product pages. The application notes and the timeline come from Siemens Solar’s installation notes and press releases. Datasheet values are shown as published; anything we calculate (module efficiency, power density, cold-weather and hot-cell voltage, daily energy) is labelled as calculated, with the method beside the number.

How the data is checked

  1. Datasheet values were transcribed for each of the 16 modules.
  2. A script compares the transcribed electrical values, outline dimensions, weights, temperature coefficients and cell counts with the source text, and every table on the module pages is built from those values. Warranty tiers and system voltage were read from the same text.
  3. Installation notes are read for internal consistency. Where component lists do not add up to stated totals, as in the Sacramento Hedge array circuit (24 by 400 modules would be 9,600, not the stated 4,800) and the Kerman panel power, we say so.
  4. Where a source table is garbled, for example the maximum system voltage row on the ST pages, we say so on the page and recommend confirming on the original datasheet.

What we do not do

  • We do not provide engineering or electrical-code advice for a specific property.
  • We do not sell Siemens modules and cannot provide warranty service for them. Siemens Solar is a trademark of its owner and A1 Solar is not affiliated with Siemens.

Who maintains this site

The site is maintained by the A1 Solar editorial team. If you want to challenge a figure, use the contact page and quote the page and the datasheet value. Corrections are made as soon as they are verified. Our editorial policy sets out how we handle sources, images and updates.
