Where the information comes from
Primary sources come first: Siemens Solar’s datasheets, application notes and press releases. Where we cite outside material, we name it in the text: the NREL review of degradation rates (Jordan and Kurtz, 2013), IEA-PVPS trends reports and the National Electrical Code on the pages that use them.
Calculated values
Quantities we derive are marked calculated and the method is stated next to the number, with the assumptions (for example 5 peak-sun-hours and 0.75 system efficiency for a daily energy estimate, and a typical −0.47 %/K Vmp coefficient for the pessimistic hot-cell voltage). These are planning figures, not measurements.
Images, graphics and video
The photographs are restored versions of low-resolution original pictures. They were enlarged and cleaned with an AI image tool that keeps the composition of the original, and they show typical scenes, not necessarily the installation in the text. The picture below shows one original beside the version used on the site. The two short video clips on the home page are generated footage, not recordings of real installations, and are labelled as such. Diagrams, outlines and curves are generated from the datasheet values; the I–V curves are indicative reconstructions through the datasheet’s Isc, Vmp/Imp and Voc points, not measured curves.
Historical content
Programmes, announcements and statements from the 1990s and early 2000s describe what Siemens said then, not what is true today.
Corrections and updates
We correct errors as soon as they are verified and do not silently change numbers. Report problems through the contact page with the page and the datasheet value.
